All primed and ready for final painting |
Good news! The car passed LVV Certification - just needed to add some rear reflectors in order for it to complete compliance. So, all road legal - now it's time to find a painter.
Visited a few car painters and got quite a range of prices, but after a couple of recommendations I settled on one that had good reviews and was middle-of-the-road price-wise. Had a couple weeks to wait, so I did some prep work that would save the painter some time. Mainly removal of some anti-stone-chip rubber paint on the lower part of the door and panels between the wheel arches (about 100mm above the new side skirts).
Car dropped off to the painter, but then COVID-19 arrived in New Zealand...
So, bit of a delay while we were in Level 4 lockdown, but here's a series of progress photos on the painting of my car - can't wait to see the final product!
Now in the paint booth, so not long now... |
Yahoo - colour going on! |
The next blog post should be a goodie! The car will be finished and New Zealand's first Japanese Cobra will be hitting the highways and byways :-) .
Here's the real Shelby Cobra for comparison:
