Side Skirts & Finishing Touches

Japanese Cobra modification to Mazda MX5 / Miata

Seasons Greetings Everyone!

Well, except for obtaining LVV Certifcation and painting, we're all pretty much done!

Ran into a little trouble when I started putting on the side skirts. Jacked up the side of the car and then found that it looks like one of the previous owners had scraped the underside of the car on various obstacles - quite a few times by the look of it. Unfortunately, it looks like one of the scrapes caused a crack in the paint and underside sealant at one of the panel joints and as a result some light rust had started to develop. So, time to attack that first...

In the photo above you can also see the dark patches underneath the car where I had to prime bare metal (from all the various scrapes) and put on new deadening paint. But, underside now tidied up, so on to those skirts...

A little bit of trimming / sanding to make a nice fit, but the skirts went on pretty easily. And, looking pretty good!

All done and ready for LVV Certification - so I rang the certifier to book the car in. Oh no, he's all booked up until 20th January (too many others getting their cars completed before Xmas 😀).

Oh well, what else did I want to do? Yep, the finishing touches:

Happy New Year to you and yours! Hopefully good news regarding LVV Certification in the next post...
